            Începând cu anul 1961, la Iaşi, a apărut revista Arheologia Moldovei, publicaţie a Institutului de Istorie şi Arheologie „A. D. Xenopol”, iar din 1990 numai a Institutului de Arheologie. Ajunsă la numărul 29, Arheologia Moldovei a dobândit un binemeritat prestigiu datorită valoroaselor studii şi articole editate cu competenţă şi într-o formă îngrijită în limba română sau într-o limbă de circulaţie internaţională (engleză, franceză, germană etc.). Actualmente revista iclude în sumarul său diferite lucrări ale cercetătorilor Institutului precum şi colaborări ale unor specialişti din ţară şi de peste hotare ce tratează nu numai probleme de istorie veche, arheologie, epigrafie şi numismatică, ci şi rezultatele unor preocupări din domenii interdisciplinare, cum ar fi paleoantropologia, paleozoologia, palinologia, metalografia etc., începând cu epoca paleolitică şi până în evul mediu.
            Lucrările destinate tipăririi, în totalitate, trebuie să fie prezentate în conformitate cu exigenţele de acum încetăţenite ale revistei, adică cu text în limba română, cu rezumat într-o limbă de circulaţie internaţională, însoţite de ilustraţie şi de note culese separat. În cazul în care aautorii dispun de posibilitatea traducerii textului într-o limbă străină de circulaţie internaţională, redacţia accceptă astfel de lucrări (cu rezumatul în limba română), cu menţiunea că acestea vor fi supervizate atent de specialiştii şi lingviştii care colaborează cu Redacţia.
            Revista este editată de un colegiu de redacţie alcătuit din specialiştii Institutului de Arheologie la care se adaugă un secretar la care se predau manuscrisele prezentate de către autori. Comitetul de redacţie îşi dă consimţământul asupra calităţii ştiinţifice a materialelor, numai după ce acestea au fost citite şi referate de membrii Colegiului de redacţie (Acad. Mircea Petrescu-Dîmboviţa, John Chapman (Universitatea din Durham, Departamentul de Istorie Veche şi Arheologie); Falko Daim (Institut für Ur- und Frühgeschichte din Viena, Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum din Mainz); Linda Ellis (Universitatea de Stat din San Francisco, Departamentul de Istorie Veche şi Arheologie); Gheorghe Postică (Universitatea Liberă Internaţională din Chişinău); Gerhard Trnka (Institut für Ur- und Frühgeschichte din Viena); Ion Ioniţă, Silviu Sanie, Dan Gh. Teodor (Institutul de Arheologie din Iaşi)) sau de către alţi specialişti externi. În cazul în care se impune şi la sugestia referenţilor, redacţia îşi rezervă dreptul de a face observaţii de fond sau formă pentru îmbunătăţirea lucrărilor destinate tiparului.
            Articolele publicate se adresează oamenilor de ştiinţă, cercetătorilor, precum şi tuturor persoanelor interesate să îşi dezvolte orizontul de cunoştinţe cu noţiuni de specialitate, cu noi lucrări şi studii de referinţă pe care să le aplice ulterior în domeniul în care îşi desfăşoară activitatea.
      Procesul de recenzare (peer-review) a articolelor supuse spre publicare cuprinde următoarele etape:
- predarea materialului de către autor în condiţiile tehnice stabilite;
- întocmirea sumarului de către echipa redacţională după o primă selecţie a materialelor în raport cu problemele de actualitate;
- prezentarea propunerilor de sumar membrilor Colegiului Ştiinţific în vederea definitivării articolelor care vor fi cuprinse în fiecare număr;
- materialele selectate spre publicare sunt rediscutate cu autorii; Comisia de referenţi va verifica gradul de noutate a temei sau a subiectului propus, corectitudinea şi caracterul ştiinţific al articolelor şi a traducerilor într-o limbă de circulaţie internaţională (engleză, franceză, germană etc.); se va realiza redactarea în forma finală care este dată pentru tehnoredactare şi publicare.

           The Arheologia Moldovei journal came into existence as a publication of the “A. D. Xenopol” Institute of History and Archaeology in Iasi, and starting 1990, it has had an annual issue of the Institute of Archaeology only. Reached at number 33, Arheologia Moldovei has gained an earned prestige due to the studies and articles published with valuable proficiency in an orderly turn in Romanian or a foreign language (English, French, German, etc.) as well.
           Today, the magazine includes in its summary a number of various studies belonging to the Institute researchers but also the collaboration of specialists in the country and abroad that deal with issues not only ancient history, archaeology, epigraphy and numismatics, but also concerns the results of interdisciplinary fields such as Paleoanthropology, Paleozoology, Palynology, Metallography, dating methods in archaeology a.s.o., from Paleolithic up to the Middle Ages. The topics cover especially old history times or the medieval period especially of Moldavia as a historical province, but also of other regions or neighboring countries.
           In addition to presenting research papers Arheologia Moldovei publishes book reviews besides. The Editors put strong emphasis on the originality of the materials. The Editorial Board of Arheologia Moldovei is assured by specialists at the Iasi Institute of Archaeology and a Secretary. The manuscripts are strictly refereed and only papers of high quality are accepted for publication. Arheologia Moldovei is addressed especially to all researchers in archaeology, old history, or the medieval period, but also to the large public generally interested in archeology and history.
           The papers ready to be printed, must be submitted in accordance with the requirements of the now-established journal that is with the text in Romanian, with abstract in a foreign language, accompanied by illustration and notes collected separately. The editors accept the text translated into an international language (with summary in Romanian) only after the translation has been carefully supervised by specialists and linguists working with the Editorial Board. The Editorial Committee carefully checks the texts only after they have been read and referenced by the Scientific Editorial Board members or by other external specialists. The Editorial College Board members are: Prof. John Chapman (Durham University, the Department of Ancient History and Archaeology); Dr. Falko Daim (Institut für Ur- und Frühgeschichte von Viena, Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum von Mainz); Dr. Friederich Lüth (Römisch-Germanische Kommission von Frankfurt am Main), Prof. Gheorghe Posticã (Free International University of Moldov from Chiºinãu); Prof. Gerhard Trnka (Institut für Ur- und Frühgeschichte von Viena); Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Wolfram Schier (Institut für Prähistorische Archäologie von Berlin), Dr. Ion Ioniþã, Dr. Silviu Sanie, Dr. Dan Gh. Teodor (Institute of Archaeology from Iaºi).
           Where required and at the suggestion of reviewers, the Editorial Staff reserves the right to comment of substance or form of article to improve the works for printing. The Review Process (Peer-Reviewed) of papers submitted for publication includes the following steps:
- the rendition of the article by the author in the suitable technical conditions laid down;
- writing out of the summary by editorial team after a first selection of materials in relation to the current issues;
- the presentation of proposals summary to the members of the Scientific Editorial Board in order to complete articles will be included in each number of the magazine;
- the materials selected for publication are discussed for a second time with the authors; the Editorial Committee will check the extent of novelty of the theme or topic proposed, the scientific characteristics of the articles, and the accuracy of translations in a foreign language (English, French, German etc.); will be edit the final form ready to be published;
           The papers and articles go to the scientists, researchers and all interested persons to develop their knowledge perspective with specialized concepts, new references and studies to be applied in every field of activity.
           An active exchange program has been established with 218 publications of reputation from all over the world.
