Victor Cojocaru is a Senior Researcher (Scientific Researcher I) at the Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch, where he has been active since 1993, progressing through all stages of the academic research career to the highest professional rank. He studied ancient history, classical archaeology, and classical philology (Ancient Greek and Latin) at the State University of Chișinău and at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. He holds two PhDs, in History (2001) and in Philology (2011), both awarded with highest distinctions (summa cum laude and magna cum laude, respectively). His research focuses on the ancient Black Sea region, with particular emphasis on epigraphy, the external relations of Greek cities, and the dynamics of cultural interactions between Greek and non-Greek populations. His work is primarily based on the analysis of epigraphic sources, integrated into broader historical and archaeological frameworks. He has participated in numerous international archaeological projects (Histria, Olbia, Tyras), including as field director on the Romanian side at Tyras, and has been awarded multiple research fellowships and study visits at major European institutions (Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, University of Trier, among others).
