The VARIA ARCHAEOLOGICA series, coordinated by Dr. Dan Aparaschivei and George Bilavschi, is an editorial project dedicated, in particular, to the publication of papers presented at the annual National Conference on Archaeology, organized by the Institute of Archaeology of Iași of the Romanian Academy-Iași Branch. The series will also include other monographic works on archaeology.

Five volumes have been published so far: Varia Archaeologica (I). Cercetarea arheologică românească: între performanță și austeritate (2025), edited by a group of scholars consisting in Dan Aparaschivei, George Bilavschi and Ludmila Bacumenco-Pîrnău.

Here, valuable scientific contributions from established researchers, as well as from those just starting out, from research centers in the country (Arad, Bucharest, Botoșani, Buzău, Chișinău, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Iași, Piatra Neamț, Roman, Sibiu, Timișoara, Tg. Neamț, Tulcea, etc.), as well as from abroad, have been selected. The volumes published in the Varia Archaeologica series, with a diverse theme, were intended to be a reflection of archaeological activity and modern research methods applied both in established sites and in areas recently entered the scientific archaeological circuit in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The seriousness with which the authors of the texts collaborated in the development of the volumes encourages their editors to take this editorial project further. The series is published by the prestigious Mega publishing house in Cluj-Napoca. Ultimately, all researchers involved in complex archaeological research projects want the competent institutions of the Romanian state to treat the cultural heritage of Romania responsibly and competently, to provide the appropriate framework for its valorization as a universal cultural asset, and to be aware of its value in the evolution of Romanian society.
