Dobrovăț. Archaeological Research on Settlements from the Late Iron Age (5th–3rd centuries BC)

Alexandru Berzovan, Dobrovăț. Cercetări arheologice privind locuirile din cea de-a doua Epocă a Fierului (sec. V–III î.Hr.) / Dobrovăț. Archaeological Research on Settlements from the Late Iron Age (5th–3rd centuries BC), Editura Istros, Brăila.

This volume presents the results of archaeological investigations carried out within the territory of Dobrovăț commune (Iași County) during several excavation campaigns conducted between 2019 and 2023, at three distinct locations: Cetățuia, La Livadă / Pădurea Coloneața, and La Livadă.

At the Cetățuia site, a fortification was identified and documented, with particular attention given to its defensive system, while the other two sites revealed the remains of unfortified settlements.

The volume also benefited from the contributions of specialists from the Institute of Archaeology in Iași and the Moldova National Museum Complex. Thus, Dr Lavinia Grumeza (IAI) contributed a chapter on vessels dated to the 3rd–4th centuries AD, reportedly discovered at Cetățuia according to published data. Dr Daniel Malaxa (IAI) analysed the faunal osteological material from La Livadă / Pădurea Coloneața. Medieval finds were examined by Dr Cosmin Niță (CMNM), while Mihai Spiridon and Ligia Otilia Teodor (CMNM) produced a case study on the reconstruction stages of a Thracian-Getic vessel discovered during the 2020 campaign.
