Short biography
Daniel Malaxa is a Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch, specializing in zooarchaeology and bioarchaeology. He completed his BA and MA studies in Biology at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, where he also obtained his PhD in 2024, with a specialization in comparative anatomy. His research focuses on the analysis of faunal remains from archaeological contexts, aiming to reconstruct diet, economy, and subsistence strategies of past communities, from the Neolithic to the Medieval period. His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, including biostatistical analysis and paleoenvironmental interpretation. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, including meetings of the European Association of Archaeologists and ICAZ conferences, addressing topics such as animal resource exploitation, subsistence strategies, and environmental reconstruction in prehistoric and historical contexts.
