Biography
Ștefan Honcu is a Scientific Researcher III at the Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch, where he has been active since 2015. He obtained his PhD in History from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, with a dissertation focusing on Roman kitchenware from Dobrudja (1st–3rd centuries AD), under the supervision of Prof. L. Mihailescu-Bîrliba. His research focuses on Classical and Byzantine archaeology, with particular emphasis on pottery studies, the ancient economy, and the circulation of goods in the Pontic and Lower Danube regions. He has been involved in several national research projects and has participated in numerous archaeological excavations at key sites such as Ibida, Orgame/Argamum, and Noviodunum. He has presented papers at numerous international conferences across Europe and is actively engaged in both fieldwork and interdisciplinary research.
