The archaeological site of Albești – Cetățuia (Vaslui County)

Starting in 2021, a team coordinated by Dr. Alexandru Berzovan (Institute of Archaeology in Iași), composed of Dr. Mircea Oancă, Dr. Mircea Mamalaucă and Dr. Adrian Gâlea (Vasile Pârvan Museum in Bârlad) conducted archaeological research at the archaeological site of Albești-Cetățuia, which dates back to the early period of the Second Iron Age (5th-3rd centuries BC).

Archaeological research conducted for five consecutive years has revealed particularly useful information about this fortification, which experienced two distinct stages of habitation and fortification. In addition to the defensive system, surface dwellings and dug-out dwellings were also documented, as well as several pits that provided rich and representative archaeological material. The results of these investigations are currently being processed and will be published in the form of a monograph in the coming years.
